Questions Before You Gather
-
Old Town Hall welcomes birthdays, showers, anniversaries, family reunions, rehearsal dinners, workshops, recitals, community gatherings, celebrations of life, and intimate weddings.
-
The venue is best suited for intimate gatherings of up to 70 guests.
-
Your rental includes the historic indoor hall, outdoor grounds, 60 white folding chairs, ten 8-top round tables, café lights, a wooden ceremony arch, parking, and the chance to ring our historic pre-Civil War bell.
-
Our standard rental is intentionally DIY: clients arrange and decorate the space, remove all décor, food, personal items, and event trash, address spills and excessive mess, and return the property to the condition in which it was received. The optional $450 setup and teardown service covers only the setup and return of Venue-owned tables and chairs; it does not replace the client’s remaining cleanup responsibilities. Deposit return depends on the post-event inspection.
-
Yes. You may choose your own caterer and event vendors. Alcohol is allowed only with prior written approval, the $300 alcohol fee, and a signed alcohol addendum. The event must remain private and invitation-only. The renter or host supplies and controls all alcohol and is responsible for lawful purchase and service, age verification, guest conduct, and safe transportation. Alcohol may not be sold, exchanged for donations, or included in a ticket or admission price unless the host obtains every required license or permit and provides proof to the venue in advance. No alcohol may be served to anyone under 21 or visibly intoxicated. Additional insurance and an approved bartender may be required. Final requirements will be included in the rental agreement.
-
Begin with the Check Availability form. An approved date is reserved only after we receive the signed rental agreement and the $500 nonrefundable retainer. The remaining rental balance and separate $500 refundable security and cleanup deposit are due 30 days before the event.
-
Music is welcome, but the volume must remain reasonable and neighbor-friendly. All outdoor amplified music and speakers must be off by 10:00 p.m. The venue may require the volume to be lowered or the music stopped earlier if it creates a disturbance. Renters are responsible for making sure their DJ or band follows these rules and for keeping guest noise respectful during departure.
-
Standard full-day access is 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. unless your signed event details state otherwise. Amplified music ends by 10:00 p.m., and guests, vendors, personal property, and required cleanup must be finished by 11:00 p.m.
-
There are approximately 40 on-site parking spaces, including about ten spaces in front and a large parking area behind the building. Additional public parking is generally available near the Huntsville park and town facilities about one block away. Guests must follow the parking instructions provided for the event and keep roads, driveways, sidewalks, and emergency access clear.
-
Two half bathrooms are available on the main floor just inside the front entrance. The main floor of the venue is wheelchair accessible. Please tell us about any specific accessibility needs when you inquire so we can help you evaluate the space before booking.
-
Old Town Hall does not have a full commercial kitchen or refrigerator. A prep sink and limited preparation areas are available, and some clients designate a main-floor room for catering preparation. Caterers must arrive prepared to store, handle, serve, and remove food safely.
-
For smaller gatherings, the indoor hall can serve as the weather backup. Around 40 guests fit comfortably indoors, approximately 50 can fit with a tighter layout, and larger groups should reserve an approved event tent. For weddings approaching the 70-person venue capacity, we strongly recommend arranging a tent in advance rather than waiting on the forecast.
-
Pets and food trucks may be allowed with prior approval. Flameless candles are preferred. Enclosed candles and outdoor sparklers require prior written approval and must follow the venue’s placement, safety, supervision, and cleanup instructions. Open flames, fireworks, and smoke-producing devices are not allowed unless specifically approved in writing.
-
The separate $500 security and cleanup deposit is due 30 days before the event. It is refundable after the post-event inspection, less any deductions for damage, missing property, excessive cleaning, incomplete checkout duties, overtime or late departure, unpaid balances, or rule violations. Any remaining deposit is returned with an accounting within 14 calendar days after the event.

Yes. A rear stairway connects the lower level to the outdoor event area and can be useful for loading, vendor access, or giving the wedding party a more private entrance. The main-floor front entrance remains the wheelchair-accessible route.
